Radio Testing - R&TTE

EU requirements for your product
A radio product must meet the Radio and Telephone Terminal (R&TTE) Directive before it can be marketed in the EU. One of four vital, mandatory requirements in the R&TTE Directive is effective utilisation of the radio spectrum. This is usually met by carrying out radio testing in accordance with the harmonised ETSI standards.

Access to the North American market …
The USA and Canada have their own standards and demands on radio transmitters, some of which differ from those in the EU. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allows a very few testing agencies to act on their behalf. Intertek is one the test agencies to be appointed Telecommunication Certification Bodies (TCBs) and can thus certify radio transmitters in a much more convenient and quicker manner than going through the FCC authority.

...and the rest of the world
Many countries still have their own requirements for certification and type approval of radio transmitters, and an accredited test report from a well-known test agency is usually required as a basis for such applications. We help you sort out which requirement applies to your product for a specific market.
