CB Scheme

Obtaining the necessary international certifications for market access can be difficult, time-consuming and expensive. The CB Scheme was created by the IECEE (International Electrotechnical Commission for Electrical Equipment) to enable faster, simpler access to markets worldwide. It is a convenient process for mutual recognition of test results between participating countries, normally without the need for additional testing

Gain access to more than 45 countries
Intertek is a Certification Body in the CB Scheme, having three National Certification Bodies (NCB) and numerous CB Testing Laboratories (CBTL). A CB Test Report from a CBTL and a corresponding CB Certificate from an NCB will help you to meet multiple international safety requirements and gain access to more than 45 countries.

Local testing for worldwide safety compliance
We will test your electrical and/or electronic products according to both IEC standards and national deviations. By significantly reducing duplicate testing for multiple markets, the CB Scheme means faster product movement from factory to market, reduced workload, reduced testing and fewer product samples subjected to possible damage or destruction.

CB as a basis for several certification marks
If you have already obtained a CB Test Certificate and CB Test Report for your product from another participating NCB, we can accept those documents as a basis for issuing one of our certification marks – the ETL Listed Marks for US and Canada or the S Mark for Europe.
