Energy Star

ENERGY STAR® is a voluntary labelling program designed to identify and promote energy-efficient products in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As private consumers, institutions and companies are becoming increasingly aware of the environment and the money they can save by using energy-efficient appliances, the Energy Star® Mark provides you with a competitive tool.

A well known sign for low energy consumption
Intertek has a complete programme for ENERGY STAR® compliance. The Energy Star® Mark will show your customers that your product delivers the same or better performance as comparable models, while using less energy and saving money. It is a well known indicator of low energy consumption in both the US and the EU, and the label is now on over 40 product categories (and thousands of models) for the home and office.

ENERGY STAR® now in Europe
The Energy Star® Program is a voluntary partnership of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), product manufacturers, local utilities, and retailers. Thanks to the co-operation between the European Union and the EPA, the EU now encourages the Energy Star® Mark for office products.

Intertek’s Cortland, New York and Hong Kong Laboratories have been accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), and can provide testing services for ENERGY STAR® compliance.

Computers and monitors were the first products to be labeled. The ENERGY STAR® label is now on major appliances, office equipment, lighting, home electronics, and more. The EPA has also extended the label to cover new homes, as well as commercial and industrial buildings.
