'ASTA Diamond' Approval Mark Scheme

The famous Diamond Mark shows that a product has received full certification or approval. It is used on products that have been granted a licence by Intertek to show that the products comply with National, European or International standards.

The 'ASTA Diamond' is a high profile approval mark recognised throughout the world. The following elements form the basis of the Scheme:

• Full compliance approval of the product to a relevant safety standard.
• Registration of the factory quality management system to ISO 9001:2000
• Regular inspections of the factory of manufacture to Intertek requirements for the manufacture of approved products.
• Market surveillance examination and testing of approved products.

The ASTA Approval scheme is made up of the following requirements:

In simple terms, ASTA Approval of an electrical product gives the manufacturer a licence to use the ASTA Diamond Trade Mark upon the Approved products. To obtain an ASTA Marks Licence the following requirements are necessary: -

• Complete compliance certification of the products (Product Certification), i.e. an ASTA Certificate or a CB Certificate or a CCA Notification of Test Results.
• Registration to ISO 9001:2000

To retain the ASTA Licence

• Ongoing product testing of selected samples
• Ongoing Management System surveillance against ISO 9001:2000
• The re-certification of the product after 7 years.

Scope:

• Electrical Wiring Accessories - Plugs, socket outlets, switches etc.
• Circuit Breakers - Miniature circuit breakers, residual current circuit breakers, moulded case circuit breakers, air circuit breakers etc.
• Conduit & Trunking - Conduit, trunking, fittings etc.
• Cooker Control Units§ Couplers - Connectors, appliance inlets, interconnection couplers etc.
• Fuses and Fuselinks - Industrial, domestic and equipment fuses.
• Relays - All-or-nothing relays, measuring relays and protection equipment, etc.
• Switches and Isolators - Switches, switch disconnectors, fuse combination units, proximity switches, etc..
• Transformers - Power transformers, isolating transformers etc.
• Low Voltage Assemblies - Busbar systems, distribution units etc.

Note: ASTA, CB Scheme or CCA Scheme Certificates can be issued by Intertek as required. Intertek will also issue CB Scheme Certificates and CCA Notifications of Test Results on the basis of its testing as required.
