BEAB Care Mark

The BEAB CARE Mark has been developed in recognition of the additional performance requirements of certain products within the care industry:

• Hospitals
• Care homes
• Hotels
• Residential care

It is available for products which have already complied with the appropriate electrical safety standard, and in addition have been tested against an exacting special test schedule developed to measure specific performance issues relating to its application in the care sector.

Successful applicants shall therefore be awarded both the 'BEAB Approved' mark as well as the 'BEAB CARE' mark to display on their product. The creation of this new mark demonstrates the continued commitment by ASTA BEAB toward increasing product safety.

Development of a Special Standard for Instantaneous Water Heaters:

• The Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA), in co-operation with leading manufacturers, has developed a comprehensive standard based upon additional technical requirements that will fulfil the needs of this specialist sector. BEAB has developed a rigorous Special Test Schedule that could be used to demonstrate compliance with the new Standard.
• For vulnerable members of the population, who may have limited manoeuvrability or ability to react quickly to changing situations, the need for closer control of outlet water temperatures has been clearly identified. The challenge is to provide products to this market place which can provide stable outlet water temperatures under normal supply variations. In addition they should protect from scalding under rapid and abnormal supply variations, without adjustment by the user.
• The BEAB CARE Mark demonstrates that water heater products to which it is applied comply with additional requirements to existing safety standards which take into account the needs of people in care situations, such as the elderly and people with disabilities.

The BEAB CARE Mark is only applied to products that have existing BEAB Approval and comply with the additional safety and performance test schedules.
